LAST WEEK IN HONG-KONG/ DERNIERE SEMAINE A HONG-KONG

Last week-end, we went to a Bar Mitzvah at shul. The young boy Joshua Jay read the whole sidra (portion of Bible read every week), he did very well and his speech was very good and very interesting too. The parents Philip and Marylin were so proud. Then there was a delicious lunch in the community center.

In the evening we attended a concert of Chinese music in Yau Ma Tei. Very charming.

On Sunday we had an open day at home. Guests came from 10am to 6pm, but some Chinese friends from our building came at 9.30pm which was a surprise but a lovely one. The dad came with his little girl Emily age 8, who loves Kai Phong and tried to pet and "shampoo" her. Kai Phong was amazingly patient with her as well as with young kids who tried to ride her during our brunch....

We had about 50 guests (children included) Hong-Konguese, Chinese, English, French, American, Israeli, Korean, Australian. It was lovely seeing them before we left. The French Consul general Eric Berti came with his wife Madeleine and said "Let's keep in touch" when we said bye-bye. We really like him as he is very friendly, has a great sense of humor and loves our simple receptions where every one help themselves and even bring their plates back to the kitchen and talk to everybody around them.I am sure we will keep in touch for very long with many of those friends who came yesterday.

This week is our last one in Hong-Kong as residents. We are leaving exactly in a week. The removal company is coming on Thursday and Friday. We are starting to remove my paintings from the walls as well as the Mezuzot. I don't feel sad, I feel excited of what lays ahead of us in our beautiful house, a new life with new friends.

Mardee tells me that Rodel and her are very sad, I understand, but I dont want to feel sorry, I rather want to use my energy to find her new nice and understanding employers.
