PRIVATE CONCERT AT OUR HOME / CONCERT PRIVE CHEZ NOUS

Yesterday, we hosted a private concert by Melissa Berman the Hazanit (woman cantor) of the Reform synagogue in Hong Kong. We had transformed our small flat into a small concert hall for 20 guests.

                                         

Hier, nous avons organise un concert prive par Meliss Berman la Hazanit (femme chantre) de la synagogue Liberale de Hong Kong. Nous avions transforme notre petit appartement en une petite salle de concert pour 20 invites.

                                              

Our guests arrived at 7pm had a drink then the concert started at 7.30 sharp. The concert lasted 1 hour and a half with 10 mn interval.

Nos invites arriverent a 7h et burent un verre puis le concert commenca a 7h30 pile. Le concert dura une heure et demie, avec 10 mn d'entr'acte.

Melissa sang beautifully, she is so talented and the young Hong Konguese pianist who accompanied her was very good too. Melissa sang in Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino (a mixture of Hebrew and Spanish) English and French (Carmen). Then she taught us a song which we did our best to sing well. It was fun. (Even the French Consul and the number 2 of the American Embassy were singing heartfully.)

Melissa chanta merveilleusement bien, elle a beaucoup de talent et la jeune pianiste Hong Kongaise qui l'accompagnait etait aussi excellente. Melissa chanta en Hebreu, Yiddish, Ladino (un melange d'Hebreu et d'Espagnol). Puis elle nous enseigna un chant que nous fimes de notre mieux pour ne pas massacrer. (Meme le Consul de France et le numero 2 de l'Ambassade Americaine chantaient de bon coeur).

Unfortunately my camera just "passed away" after it had fell for the hundredth time...So I could not take many photos of the talented singer and her pianist...

Helas mon appareil photo "est decede" apres que je l'ai flanque par terre pour la  centieme fois... Donc il me fut impossible de prendre davantage de photos de la talentueuse chanteuse et de sa pianiste.

Luckily I'll just have time to buy a new camera before going tomorrow to China : to the famous Yellow Mountains which I can't wait to admire and to paint.

Heureusement, j'aurai juste le temps de m'acheter un autre appareil photo avant d'aller demain en Chine : dans les fameuses Montagnes Jaunes que j'ai tellement hate de voir et de peindre.

Back to the concert, during the whole performance, Kai Phong was lying in the first row just next to the artists. Both artists and the first row's audience told us they did not mind, so we did not have to remove the dog who kept absolutely still and quiet. 

Pour revenir au concert, pendant toute la duree de la representaiton, Kai Phong etait couchee au premier rang juste sous le nez des artistes....Les 2 artistes et les spectateurs du 1er rang nous affirmerent que ca ne les genaient pas donc nous n'eumes pas besoin d'enlever le chien qui resta tres silencieuse et tranquille.

After the concert, we quickly installed the buffet and the guests had dinner while chatting happily.

Apres le concert, nous installames rapidement le buffet et les invites dinerent tout en bavardant gaiement.

A beautiful evening, thanks to Mark who organized everything to Mardee who did a lot of cooking and most of all to the 2 talented artists.

Une tres belle soiree grace a Mark qui l'organisa, a Mardee qui fit beaucoup de cuisine, et surtout grace aux deux artistes de talent.
