Last week, as Mark came back from a week in Australia, Mardee and I went to meet him at Hong-Kong airport express, and Mardee brought his luggage back home by taxi while Mark and I went to see The Swan Lake danced by Hong Kong Ballet.
La semaine derniere, alors que Mark revenait d'Australie, Mardee et moi allames le chercher au train venant de l''aeroport : Hong-Kong airport express, et Mardee rapporta ses valises a la maison en taxi, tandis que Mark et moi allames voir le Lac des Cygnes danse par le Hong-Kong Ballet.
It was a very classical but good production, and some of the dancers were extremely talented. I did not like so much the 2 main characters who lacked something... but we enjoyed the evening anyway.
C'etait une mise en scene tres classique, et certains danseurs etaient excellents. Je n'aimais cependant pas les 2 solistes principaux a qui il manquait quelque chose...nous appreciames quand meme beaucoup la soiree.
This Monday, we saw a very modern ballet by a group of 7 young dancers, who danced above and around an enormous orchestra of young musicians. I liked the orchestra but could not stand the choreography so after an hour I had to get out! Mark stayed he found it interesting.
Lundi de cette semaine, nous avons vu un ballet tres moderne danse par un groupe de 7 jeunes danseurs, qui evoluaient au-dessus et autour d'un enorme orchestre de jeunes musiciens. J'ai bien aime l'orchestre mais je n'ai pas supporte la choregraphie, apres une heure j'ai du sortir. Mark resta, il trouvait ca interessant.
I cannot stand it when dancers twist and jerk and spend most of the time on the floor crawling and jerking...and pretending to hit each others... I prefer them to try graciously to rise the sky and reach the heavens...I have a problem with dancers permanently crawling on the floor... so I ran away.
Je ne supporte pas que les danseurs se tordent et avec des mouvements saccades et passent la plupart du temps a ramper sur le sol en se contorsionnant.. et en faisant mine de se combattre... je prefere qu'ils soient gracieux, tendant vers le ciel, s'efforcant d'atteindre les cieux... j'ai un probleme avec les danseurs se roulant tout le temps par terre...alors je m'enfuis.
Yesterday Wednesday, I went with Chun Wing's parents to Sham Shui Po in the New Territories, to buy some cloths for tablecloths. We went to Yen Chow Street Hawker Bazaar.
Hier, Mercredi, je suis allee avec les parents de Chun Wing a Sham Shui Po, dans les Nouveaux Territoires, acheter du tissu pour faire des nappes. Nous sommes alles au Bazaar Hawker de la rue Yen Chow.
When we have guests, I like to put on a nice table decoration on a beautiful tablecloth, but it is always stained and the spots sometimes remain for ever.... No cleaning or dry cleaning can erase them. So I stopped buying expansive tablecloths and rather try to get cheap and easy to wash material.
Quqnd nous avons des invites, j'adore decorer joliment la table et mettre une belle nappe, mais il y a souvent des taches indelebiles, impossibles a enlever par les teinturiers a sec ou non. Aussi ai-je cesse d'acheter des nappes onereuses. Je me procure desormais du tissu bon marche et facile a laver.
In Hawker Bazaar the cloths are so cheap! They measure them in yards and I was happy to have King and Ping there to help me calculate and translate in Cantonese that I wanted 2m50 and 3m long cloths BUT a width of 1m40m to 1m50. (Hong Kongers homes are small with small rectangular or round tables and people rarely invite 8 to 12 guests at home, so finding a 1m40 width piece of cloth was a challenge).
Au Bazar Hawker, les tissus sont vraiment bon marche! Ils sont mesures en yards et j'etais bien heureuse d'avoir King et Ping pour m'aider a calculer et a traduire en Cantonais que je voulais 2m50 et 3m de tissu dans une largeur de 1m40 a 1m50. (les maisons des Hong Kongais sont petites et ont de petites tables rectangulaires ou rondes mais les gens invitent rarement a la maison 8 a 12 personnes, aussi etait-ce un vrai challenge de trouver des grandes largeurs.)
I bought 2 white table cloths for 8 and for 12 guests and the shop keepers hem both of them in only 30 minutes which was wonderful. Then King, Ping and I had a Mango juice and an Indian Crepe at a nearby Pakistaneese small restaurant that Ping likes.
J'ai achete 2 nappes blanches pour 8 et 12 invites et les vendeurs leur ont fait un ourlet en 30 minutes ce qui est super! Ensuite, King, Ping et moi primes un jus de mangue et une crepe Indienne dans un petit restaurant Pakistanais que Ping aime bien.
King and Ping also bought for me in the market 2 lovely lanterns for the Mid-Autumn Festival which is very soon ! We said bye-bye, after having spent a wonderful afternoon together.

King et Ping m'offrirent aussi au marche, deux jolies lanternes pour le Festival de Mi-Automne qui approche! Nous nous quitames ravis de cette excellente apres-midi ensemble.
