AUSTRALIAN KINDNESS/GENTILLESSE AUSTRALIENNE

Today is one of those days when you have beautiful sunshine suddenly interrupted by heavy showers, followed by bright sunshine... and so on...So between 2 showers, I walked Kai Phong not too far from home. We passed in front of a house that had enormous red flowers from a kind of cactus I took a picture of the plant and saw that the owner inside was watching me, so I smiled and waved, showed the plants and put my thumb up to say I found them beautiful. The lady was Chinese, she was with friends, Chinese too, and to my surprise, all 3 of them came out.  

Aujourd'hui le temps est capricieux, nous avons une alternance de beau soleil et d'averse bien arrosées.. Aussi entre 2 averses torrentielles, ai-je sorti Kai Phong dans le coin, pas trop loin de la maison. Nous sommes passées devant une maison qui avait d'énormes fleurs rouges sur une sorte de succulente que je pris en photo, et je vis à l'intérieur, la propriétaire me regarder, je lui souris, la saluai de la main et levai le pouce pour indiquer que je trouvai sa fleur superbe. La dame était chinoise, avec des amies chinoises elles aussi, et toutes trois sortirent à ma grande surprise.

       

Those red flowers are much bigger than usual and so is the plant itself. / Ces fleurs rouges sont bien plus grosses que d'habitude et la plante elle-même aussi. 

I told them (a bit embarrassed fearing that I had shocked or annoyed them) I said : " I have never seen so big and so pretty red flowers like those..." The lady said " Do you want a cutting?" I smiled and said "Oh sure I would love one!". She had a long look at her plant and cut a piece, gave it to me, saying: " You just put it in the ground". I thanked her a lot and went back home to plant my new treasure.

Je leur dis, un peu embarrassée, craignant de les avoir choquées ou fâchées : "Je n'ai jamais vu de fleurs rouges comme ça, si grosses et si jolies..." La dame me dit : "Voulez-vous une bouture?" Je souris, ravie et dis "Oui, bien sûr, j'adorerais en avoir une" . Elle regarda longuement a plante et en coupa un bout, en me disant: " Vous le mettez simplement en terre, c'est tout". Je la remerciai beaucoup et rentrai à la maison planter mon nouveau trésor.

THANKS TO MARK I CAN ACCESS THIS BLOG AGAIN!/GRACE A MARK J'AI A NOUVEAU ACCES A CE BLOG

I could not access my blog because  Google kept sending me secret codes on my Hong-Kong phone (which I don't have any longer) instead of my Australian phone. Mark managed to get me out of this mess... he is an IT magician while I a hope less.

Je n'arrivais plus à accéder à mon blog car Google m'envoyaient des codes secrets sur mon portable Hong-kongais (que je n'ai plus) au lieu de les envoyer sur mon portable Australien. Mark a réussi à me sortir de ce bourbier... c'est un magicien informatique alors que je suis nulle...

Kai Phong is getting old and has problems with steps, so we bought her a ramp on internet, for the 3 steps in front of the house and to get into the car, as she is quite heavy for us to carry.
Kai Phong vieillit et  des problèmes pour monter les marches or nous en avons 3 pour accéder à la maison et aussi il lui est difficile de monter dans la voiture. Nous lui avons donc acheté une rampe sur internet. 

                     

                       


Since my last post, I have been painting again, a koala, and Uluru, (again a very big canvas)  and doing Hanukkah cards (which are under print)
Depuis mon dernier article, j'ai encore peint beaucoup un koala et Uluru, (encore un énorme format de toile) et j'ai fait des cartes de Hanouccah(qui sont entrain d'être imprimées).

Hobart Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery was closing at 4 pm so we had to rush to visit it.

We also visited the Maritime Museum as Mark loves ships and boats and it was opened till 5 pm.

Nous visitâmes aussi le Musée Maritime car il était ouvert jusqu'à 5h et Mark adore les voiliers et les bateaux de toutes sortes.;

UNDER SIEGE AN AMAZING CHINESE BALLET/ ASSIEGES, UN INCROYABLE BALLET CHINOIS

Last Saturday, Mark and I saw the most beautiful ballet I ever saw in my life. I loved it so much that I wanted t see it again, but the company was only in Melbourne for 4 performances and all the tickets were sold  out. Most of the public was Chinese, so I suppose that Yang Liping Contemporary Dance is famous over there..

Samedi dernier Mark et moi avons vu le plus beau ballet que j'ai jamais vu de ma vie. Je l'ai tellement aimé que je tenais absolument à e re-voir, mais comme la compagnie ne restait à Melbourne que pour 4 représentations, les billets étaient tous vendus. Le public était essentiellement Chinois, donc je suppose que Yang Liping Contemporary Dance est très connue là-bas. 

The ballet or let's just say the performance tells the story of the civil war between Western Chu led by Xiang Yu and Han led by Liu Bang in a war  that lasted from206 to 202 BC.

Le ballet ou disons plutôt le spectacle racontait l'histoire de la guerre civile entre les Chu à l'Ouest menés par Xiang Yu et les Han menés par Liu Bang dans une guerre qui dura de 206 à 202 avant JC.

Some of the dancers were male even when their character was female, but in the corps de ballet there were female dancing male's  warriors. The singers were males and females, the musicians too. It was a mixture of danse, Chinese opera, modern and classical ballet, very modern sometimes but always sooooooo beautiful!!!!

Les danseurs étaient parfois des hommes même lorsque leur personnage était une femme, il y avait des femmes qui dansaient des rôles de guerriers-hommes, les chanteurs étaient hommes ou femmes, idem pour les musiciens. C'était un mélange de ballet, d'opéra Chinois, de ballets classiques ou modernes, parfois très modernes mais toujours tellement beaux....

The music was traditional Chinese instruments played on stage or also drums. It is so complexe that I find it hard to describe, but every minute was enchanting, weither violent or emotional,  weither sexual or mystical,  historical or traditional. I could not believe my eyes, my ears. The dancers were all excellent the choreography original, full of ideas and so talented, so was the production. The choreographer is very talented, she is really special!!!!

La musique était des instruments traditionnels chinois joués sur scène ou des tambours. C'était tellement complexe que c'est difficile à décrire, mais chaque minute était un enchantement, que ce soit sexual ou mystique, historique ou traditionnel. Je n'en croyais ni mes yeux, ni mes oreilles. Les danseurs étaient excellents, la chorégraphie originale, pleine d'idées et de talent, de même que la production du spectacle. La chorégraphe a énormément de talent, cette femme est un vrai génie!!!!

It's the first time I find a ballet so special and amazing!

C'est la première fois qu'un ballet me charme autant, que je le trouve extraordinaire et hors du commun!

SUKOT IN MELBOURNE: SOUCCOT A MElBOURNE

I have not yet finished telling you about our trip to Tasmania. As they say in Hebrew : "Savlanut!" (Patience) because it is now Sukot festival and for the first time in our life, Mark and I have a Sukah in our garden.We had one long time ago but it was not ours, it was Adath Shalom's (our Masorti shul in Paris) and we had it in La Saugeraie, our family house in the country outside Paris for the whole congregation, on a Sunday. Mark and Myriam bought our Sukah on internet and went to fetch it by car.

  Je n'ai pas encore fini de vous raconter notre voyage en Tasmanie. Comme on dit en Hébreu : Savlanout! (Patience!) parce que c'est maintenant la fête de Souccot, et pour la première fois de notre vie, Mark et moi avons une Souccah à la maison. Nous en avions eu une jadis, il y a très longtemps mais elle appartenait à Adath Shalom (notre shul Masorti à Paris) et nous l'avions mise dans le jardin à la Saugeraie, notre maison de campagne familiale près de Paris pour toute la communauté un Dimanche. Mark et Myriam ont acheté notre souccah sur internet et ont été la chercher en voiture.

The sukkah stays for a week to remind us that the Hebrew were in the desert for 40 years, in tents and did not have beautiful houses or flat, let's remind that we are lucky to live in peace and in comfort. Weather permitting, we take our meals under the sukkah. In Melbourne where the weather changes, it is not easy! but it is fun! We had guest yesterday (Sunday) and had coffee under the souccah.

 La souccah reste une semaine seulement pour nous rappeler que les Hébreux ont vécu 40 ans dans des tentes dans le désert, ils n'avaient pas nos belles maisons, ni des appartements, et nous devons réaliser notre chance de vivre en paix dns un grand confort. Lorsque le temps le permet, nous prenons nos repas sous la souccah. A Melbourne où le temps change sans cesse,, ce n'est pas facile! Mais c'est rigolo!  Nous avions des invités hier Dimanche et avons pris le café sous la souccah.

In Melbourne, when they don't need things anymore, people dispose of them outside their house, and passer by can help themselves. I love it, I always look and I found 2 beautiful plates for dogs and brought them proudly back home... Mark does not approuve but has no choice...Kai Phong is not prejudiced like her master.

A Melbourne, quand les gens n'ont plus besoin de quelque chose, ils le déposent devant leur maison et les passants peuvent le prendre. J'adore ça, et je regarde toujours et j'ai trouvé 2 belles assiettes pour chien que j'ai rapportées fièrement à la maison... Mark désapprouve mais n'a pas le choix... Kai Phong n'a pas d'a priori comme son maître.

 

It's spring and we have nice flowers blooming in the garden. C'est le printemps et les fleurs s'ouvrent dans notre jardin.

Last week Mark and I went to Melbourne farm show. We saw animals, and there were many prizes for cakes, for children drawings, hats, jams etc... The cakes were amazing, I am not sure they were good, but they definitively were spectacular.

La semaine dernière nous sommes allés Mark et moi au salon de l'agriculture de Melbourne. Nous avons vu des animaux, et il y avait des concours pour des gâteaux, des dessins d'enfants, des chapeaux, des confitures etc... Les gâteux étaient spectaculaires mais je ne suis pas sûre qu'ils soient très bons.

We had great fun! Nous nous sommes bien amusés!

In the evening we went to a concert, a wonderful flutist Emmanuel Pahud (very famous) and the excellent Australian chamber orchestre. Le soir nous sommes allés au concert, un merveilleux flûtiste Emmanuel Pahud (mondialement célèbre) et l'excellent Orchestre de Chambre Australien.

What was amazing is that the orchestra instead of a partition had i-pads. and to go to the next or to the previous page of their partition, they had 2 pedals on the floor. First time ever for me to see such a modern chamber orchestra! 

Le plus étonnant était que l'orchestre au lieu de partitions, avait des i-pads, et pour aller à la page suivante ou précédente, ils appuyaient sur deux pédales au sol. C'est la première fois que je vois un orchestre de chambre aussi moderne!

TASMANIA 3rd DAY/ TASMANIE TROISIEME JOUR

On our third day we had planned to rent a car and take the ferry to beautiful Maria Island to see animal in the wilderness, but the weather was bad and spending 5 hours under rain in the middle of nowhere was not attractive.  We changed our plans and as we had a car, decided to visit the Hobart botanical garden which was beautiful, with spring flowers.

An incredible variety of mimosas (wattle trees) in Australia / Une incroyable variété de mimosas en Australie.


Pour notre 3ème jour, nous avions prévu de louer une voiture et de prendre un ferry pour nous rendre à la magnifique île Maria, voir des animaux sauvages en pleine nature, mais le temps étant pluvieux,  et la perspective de passer 5h dans la nature sous la pluie était peu attrayante. Nous modifiâmes nos plans, et ayant une voiture, décidâmes d'aller voir le jardin botanique de Hobart, ravissant avec ses fleurs printanières.

J'adorerais avoir cet Acadia dans mon jardin,

avec ses fleurs rouges et leur  bouts doré.

Here is my favourite flower in Hobart botanical garden it's a Tasmanian flower.

Voici ma fleur préférée dans le jardin botanique de Hobart, c'est un fleur de Tasmanie.

Then we headed towards Richmond a small touristic and historical city 35 minutes from Hobart. Even very small, it had its prison...

Puis nous nous dirigeâmes vers Richmond, une petite ville touristique à 35mn de Hobart. Même toute petite, elle avait sa prison.

  

Among the very first prisoners there was a Jew. 
Parmi les tous premiers prisonniers, il y avait un Juif.

 

Then we went back to Hobart to visit it's small museums. (see next post)
Puis nous retournâmes à Hobart visiter ses petits musées. (voir article suivant)
