As I woke up this morning I learnt through the Australian radio that Macron was elected. I felt relieved that France did not choose the Nationalist Far Right. Let's give Mr Macron a chance and see what he does now that he is elected. Will he have the guts to make the necessary reforms?

Ce matin au lever, j'ai appris par la radio Australienne que Macron etait elu. Je me sentis soulagee que la France n'ait pas choisi le Nationalisme de l'Extreme Droite/ Donnons sa chance a M. Macron et vpyons ce qu'il fait maintenant qu'il est elu. Aura-t il le courage de faire les reformes necessaires?

Last Thursday we attended a concert by Hong-Kong Philarmonique Orchestra  at Melbourne Art Center. The Tuba Paul Luxenberg, is our friend from HK Ohel Lea Synagogue, and we had a drink with him before the concert. Of course, like all artists he was very tense before performing, but we could no see him another time as the orchestra had rehearsal all day long and was going the following day to Sydney and then back to HK.

Jeudi dernier nous avons entendu en concert, l'orchestre Philarmonique de Hong-Kong qui se produisait a l'Art Center de Melbourne. Nous connaissons le Tuba Paul Luxenberg, qui est notre amiu e la synagogue Ohel Lea de HK, et nous bumes un verre avec lui avant le concert. Il etait tres tendu comme tous les artistes, juste avant une representation, mais c'etait le seul moment ou nous pouvions le voir, car ils avaient eu des repetitions toute la journee et partaient le lendemain pour Sydney, puis retour a Hong-Kong.

The HK Phil was playing Mozart violin Concerto no 4 and Mahler symphony no 1. I don't know why Paul was so tense because they had played this program hundred times in HK and within 4 years there we must have heard it 3 or 4 times...

Le Philarmonique de HK jouait le concerto no 4 de Mozart et la 1ere Symphonie de Mahler. Je ne sais pas pourquoi Paul etait si nerveux car ils avaient joue ce programmme des centaines de fois et au cours de nos 4 ans a HK nous l'avions bien entendu 3 ou 4 fois.

On Friday evening we had guests from the shul and ate a lot and sang a lot of traditionnal Zmirot (shabat special songs) all our guests were so happy and some said they had never had such a lovely shabbat. I felt proud and happy as I had worked hard for this dinner of 10 persons.

Vendredi soir nous avons eu des invites de la synagogue et avons beaucoup mange et beaucoup chante des Zmirot traditionnelles (chansons speciales de Chabbat) tous nos invites etaient enchantes et certains ont meme dit que c'etait le meilleur chabbat de leur vie. Ca me fit plaisir et je me sentis tres fiere car j'avais travaille tres dur pour preparer ce repas de 10 personnes.

Samedi matin shul et soir, opera de Guilbert and Sullivan in a northern suburb of Melbourne called Bell. It took us more than one hour to get there, in a remote unknown suburb... in the middle of nowhere. It reminded me of Hong-Kong when we attended performances in the New Territories and it took us for ever to reach the theatre and we got lost and nobody spoke English...but finally we always found our way and the theatre... 

Samedi matin, synagogue et le soir opera de Guilbert and Sullivan  dans une banlieue nord de melbourne. Ca nous prit plus d'une heure pour arriver la-bas... dans un bled perdu. Ca m'a rappele Hong-Kong quand nous allions assister a des representations dans les Nouveaux Territoires et que ca nous prenait un siecle pour arriver au theatre et que nous nous perdions tandis que personne ne parlait Anglais la-bas... mais finallement nous trouvions toujours notre chemin et le theatre....

Before the performance we had dinner in th only little restaurant near the theatre in Bell and it was a place where you could play Pokey I did not know what it was, but Mark explained that it was Poker in a Patchinko like machine. We did not play but had a good look. Very Australian restaurant!

Avant le spectacle nous avons dine dans le seul petit restaurant du coin pres du theatre a Bell et en cet endroit on pouvait jouer au Pokey Mark m'a explique que c'etait un jeu tres populaire de Poker sur des bandits-manchots. Nous n'avons pas joue mais avons bien regarde. Restaurant typiquement Australien!

On Sunday morning, with Mark and Myriam we went to the Dogs Lovers Show in Melbourne exhibition center. We saw the Victoria Chow-chow Club and of course lots of chows... Kai-Phong and I will soon apply to become members and there is an association that organizes chows' walks and hikes. We will of course join them sometimes for hikes!!!

Dimanche matin nous allames avec Mark et Myriam au Salon des amoureux des chiens au Centre des Expositions de Melbourne. Nous avons vu le Chow-chow Club de Victoria et plein de chow-chows bien sur! Kai Phong et moi allons devenir membres et il y a une association qui organise des ballades de chw-chows dans des parks de temps en temps. Nous nous joindrons a eux bien sur parfois pour des balades!!!
