BREXIT VOTED/ L'ANGLETERRE VOTE POUR LE BREXIT

So they did it!!! England voted massively for the Brexit. In fact London and Scotland voted for the Bremain (Remaining in Europe) but the rest of the country was against it. David Cameron will probably resign soon and Boris might become the next Prime Minister. From now on who knows what is going to happen.... it is very scary.

Ils l'ont fait!!! Les Anglais ont vote massivement pour sortir de l'Europe. En fait, Londres et l'Ecossse ont vote pour rester (Bremain) mais le reste du pays etait contre. David Cameron va surement demissionner bientot et Boris deviendra peut-etre le Premier Ministe. Qui sait desormais ce qui va se passer... ca fait tres peur.

Asian stock exchange have started dropping, and now it is European ones also droping. The Pound lost 10%...

Les bourses asiatiques ont chute, et maintenant les europeennes chutent a leur tour. La livre sterling aperdu 10%...

One good new however : We have had a beautiful sunny week in Hong-Kong after months of rain and humidity and everyone enjoys the sun and the various beaches. It is hot (33-34 degrees), summer has arrived in Hong-Kong and international schools are closing so the Expats families go back home for the holidays or move to another country.

Une bonne nouvelle toutefois : Nous avons eu une semaine de temps magnifique a Hong-Kong apres des mois de pluie et d'humidite et tout le monde apprecie le soleil et les plages. Il fait chaud (33-34 degres) l'ete est arrive a Hong-Kong et les ecoles internationales commencent a fermer, donc les familles d'Expats rentrent dans leurs pays pour les vacances ou demenagent vers un autre pays.

We are still in Hong-Kong and will remain for a few months. Once Mark will have found a new job, we will have to proceed the dog's papers which also take a lot of time...

Nous sommes toujours a Hong-Kong et y resterons encore quelques mois. Quand Mark aura trouve un travail, nous devrons faire les papiers pour le chien ce qui prend pas mal de temps aussi...

We will see Chun-Wing in Hong Kong. He has finished the various exams for the Baccalaureat, but he must still dance several times at the Opera, then he will happily join his family who is waiting for him in HK.

Nous verrons Chun-Wing a Hong-Kong. Il a fini les epreuves du Bac mais  doit encore danser a l'Opera, puis il viendra voir sa famille qui l'attend avec impatience a HK.

Before that, we will see our own children in Melbourne in July.

OCEAN PARK HONG-KONG

For Myriam last day in Hong-Kong, we went to Ocean Park, our first time since we have been in Hong-Kong. It was a very hot day (33 degres) and as it was a week day, the park was not too busy. We mostly wanted to see the park's 4 giant pandas, Ocean Park is the only park in the world outside China to host 4 Giant Pandas) and also saw small red pandas, as well as the Asian animals.

Pour le dernier jour de Myriam a Hong-Kong, nous sommes alles a Ocean Park, la premiere fois pour nous depuis notre arrivee a HK. Il faisait tres chaud (33 degres) et c'etait un jour de semaine aussi le parc n'etait-il pas trop plein de monde. Nous voulions surtout voir les 4 grands Pandas du Parc, Ocean Park en effet est le seul parc hors Chine a accueillir 4 pandas geants. Nous voulions aussi voir les petits pandas roux et autres animaux regionaux. 

The Giant Pandas were not easy to see. We could just see the head of one, rather far away. However, I found the red pandas as cute and much more lively, one came just near me and I could take lovely photos of him. (It was obviously a male).

Les Pandas Geants etaient durs a voir, nous pumes juste apercevoir la tete de l'un d'eux au loin. Tandis que les petit pandas roux etaient aussi mignons et bien plus actifs. L'un d'entre eux (un male visiblement) vint tout pres de moi.

 

 

Another interesting animal was the "Sichuan Snob Nose Monkey". A big monkey with lots of hair on his back, a very long tail, a big belly, strange sticking out ears and very scary teeth. This Chinese monkey has a very interesting head indeed.

Un autre animal etonnant etait "le Singe du Sichuan a Nez Snob." Un grand singe poilu sur le dos, a tres longue queue, au gros ventre, aux oreilles decollees et aux canines impressionnantes. Ce singe Chinois a vraiment une tete curieuse, tres differente.

We also saw some Koalas which were active even as it was day time. In Australia I always saw them moving very very slowly or munching slowly their eucalyptus leaves. So I really enjoyed seeing them move and look at us. Myriam, who was going to Australia a few hours later, was also very excited to see her first koalas.

  

Nous vimes aussi des koalas qui etaient actifs meme en plein jour. En Australie je les avais toujours vus bougeant tres, tres lentement ou machant tout aussi lentement leurs feuilles d'Eucalyptus. Aussi etais-je ravie de les voir en mouvement et nous regardant. Myriam, qui allait en Australie quelques heures plus tard, fut enchantee de voir ses premiers koalas. 

                                         

This last day went very quickly and now both our children are in Melbourne./ Ce dernier jour a passe tres vite et maintenant nos deux enfants sont a Melbournee.

Only Kai Phong stays with us and takes interest in the canvas for my next painting./Seule Kai Phong est avec nous et s'interesse a la toile de ma prochaine peinture.

SINGAPORE/ SINGAPOUR

We are just back from 3 days in Singapore with Myriam. Mark had several professional meetings, meanwhile Myriam and I, visited this beautiful city.

  

Nous voila de retour de 3 jours a Singapour avec Myriam. Mark avait quelques rendez-vous professionnels pendant lesquels Myriam et moi avons visite cette superbe ville.

On our first day, we saw the famous Gardens by the Bay, had a drink in a trendy bar on a terrace, where you can see beautiful sunsets, then we had dinner with an English former colleague of Mark and his Japanese wife. Meanwhile Myriam had dinner with her friend at the Marina. 

                                     

Le premier jour, nous avons vu les celebres Jardins pres de la Baie, puis avons pris un verre dans un bar a la mode, sur une terrace d'ou l'on pouvait admirer un beau coucher de soleil. Ensuite nous avons dine avec un ancien collegue anglais de Mark et sa femme Japonaise. Pendant ce temps Myriam dinait avec son amie sur la Marina.

  

  

The gardens by the Bay is huge and has two enormous glasshouses, one is rather dry and cool while the other one is like a rain forest with mist sent every hour to humidify the air. 

                                      

                       

Le Jardin pres de la Baie est immense avec 2 grandes serres, l'une plutot seche et fraiche, l'autre chaude et humide comme les forets tropicales.

                                        

 

                                 

 

On the second day, we spent hours in the Botanic Garden and its amazing Orchids Garden. Mark left us after 2 hours and went to a meeting. We had lunch and did shopping at "Little India" the Indian district. I love Indian clothes so light and suitable for very plump ladies...

  

  

  

       

                               

Le deuxieme jour, nous pasames des heures dans le jardin Botanique et son extraordinaire Jardin d'Orchidees. Mark nous laissa apres 2 heures pour se rendre a un meeting. Nous dejeunames a "Little India" (La petite Inde) et y fimes des courses. J'ai un faible pour les vetements Indiens si legers et seyants quand on est tres, tres ronde....

 

On our last day we went to the National Museum which was very interesting and showed the recent history of Singapore. The British colonial time, then the Japanese occupation then the Independance, the Junction with Malaysia and the divorce with Malaysia. The progress made since Independance were striking! Then Mark went to Insead where he had appointments with a teacher and with the Dean. Then we had to go to the airport.

 

            

Le dernier jour nous sommes alles au musee National tres interessant, montrant l'histoire recente de Singapour. L'epoque du colonialisme Britannique, celle de l'occupation japonaise, de l'Independance puis de la fusion avec la Malaysie et du Divorce avec la Malaysie. Enfin le temps de l'autonomie et les extraordinaires progres economiques faits depuis lors. Mark nous quitta car il avait des rendez-vous a l'Insead avec un prof et avec le president de l'Insead. Puis depart a l'aeroport.
