Pessah is always a busy time, changing plates, cleaning the house, buying special food for that week....That did not leave me much time to write my blog. We are now half way through Pessah, Mark has gone to Sydney for a few days, he should be back tomorrow (Thursday 5th) evening which will enable him to attend shul with us on Friday and Saturday mornings.
Pessah est toujours une période d'intense activité, on change de vaisselles, on nettoie la maison, on achète de la nourriture spéciale pour la semaine... Ca ne m'a pas laissé beaucoup de temps pour écrire mon blog. Nous sommes maintenant au milieu de la semaine de Pessah, Mark est retourné à Sydney pour quelques jours, il reviendra demain (Jeudi 5) au soir ce qui lui permettra de venir à la shul avec nous Vendredi et Samedi matins.
Let's go back to our trip to France and Israel. On March 14 Mark and I flew from Tel Aviv to Aman. It was my first time in Jordan, but Mark had been there for work 25 years ago. Jordan looks like Israel 35 years ago : very poor and very dry by lack of water. We did not see much of Aman because our destination was Petra where we spent 2 days with an amazing guide.
Revenons un peu sur notre voyage en France et Israël. Le 4 Mars, Mark et moi nous envolâmes de Tel Aviv à Aman. C'était mon premier voyage e Jordanie, mais Mark y était déjà allé une fois pour son travail, il y a 25 ans. La Jordanie ressemble à Israël il y a 35 ans, très pauvre et très aride par manque d'eau. Nous ne vîmes pas grand chose d'Aman car notre destination était Petra où nous passâmes 2 jours avec un guide extraordinaire.

Going to Petra from Aman took us more than 4 hours, on a so-called high-way which was the main road from Akaba to Aman. We arrived in Petra in the afternoon and after leaving our luggage at our hotel, we headed for "Little Petra" which is an area in the amazingly huge antic city of Petra. I don't know why, when Petra is mentioned you always see the same photo of a magnificent decorated front part of what seems to be a temple carved in the rock... so I never imagined how big Petra is!
Aller d'Aman à Petra nous prit plus de 4 heures, sur une soi-disant auto-route qui est l'unique route d'Akaba à Aman. Nous arrivâmes à Petra dans l'après-midi et après avoir laissé nos bagages à l'hôtel, nous partîmes pour "La petite Petra" qui est une partie de l'incroyable et énorme ville antique qu'est Petra. J'ignore pourquoi, mais quand on mentionne Petra on montre toujours la même photo d'une façade superbement décorée de ce qui semble être un temple creusé dans la roche... donc j'étais loin de me douter à quel point Petra est vaste!
