As I already told you David is with us here in Hong Kong, and Robin and Mich arrived on Tuesday morning from London. They were supposed to stay till Xmas morning and spend 6 days in China, then come back for a day in Hong Kong and go back home.
Comme je vous l'ai dit David est avec nous ici a Hong-Kong, et Robin et Mich sont arrives Mardi matin de Londres. Ils devaient rester jusqu'au matin de Noel et ensuite aller passer 6 jours en Chine, puis revenir un jour a Hong-Kong et repartir le lendemain pour Londres.
However life is always unexpected!
Mais la vie est toujours inattendue!
On their first day, Mark had organized some professional meetings for Robin and they had a Chinese banquet lunch afterward with all those important people... meanwhile, Mish and I went to Tsim Sha Tsui to have some blouses and jackets taylor made for us by a Pakistanese taylor who already worked for me and did a great job.
Le jour de leur arrivee, Mark avait organise des rendez-vous professionnels pour Robin et ils eurent un delicieux banquet chinois comme dejeuner avec tous ces gens tres importants... pendant ce temps Mich et moi allames nous faire faire des blouses et vestes faites sur mesure a Tsim Sha Tsui par un tailleur Pakistanais qui a deja travaille pour moi et fort bien d'ailleurs.
Then in the evening we had dinner with a cousin of Mich whom she had never met and who happens to live in Hong Kong with her young family. I had met Caroline and husband Dan at the shul and she mentioned she had family in Melbourne and they happened to be Mich's cousins whom we know very well. So I introduced Caroline to Mich on the phone but now that Mich was there Mark and I organized a dinner and they were both so happy to meet for the first time.
Le soir nous dinames avec une cousine de Mich qu'elle n'avait jamais rencontree et qui habite Hong-Kong avec son mai et ses 3 jeunes enfants. J'avais rencotnre Caroline et son mari Dan a la synagogue, elle nous parla de sa famille a Melbourne qui en fait etaient les cousins de Mich et que nous connaissons bien. Donc j'ai presente par telephone les deux cousines puis comme Mich etait la, a HK, Mark et moi organisames un diner et elles eurent la joie de faire connaissance.
After this busy first day in Hong Kong we all went to bed early and the following morning I asked Mich how she had slept. "Not too well was her answer, because at 2 am I received a phone call from Lyon, my mother fell in her flat and broke her hip, (Mich's mother is 90 years old and very independant). The firemen had to break the front door to get into the flat and take her to hospital where she should soon have an operation. We were on the phone with Lyon all night."
Apres cette premiere journee bien remplie, nous nous couchames tous tot et le lendemain matin je demandai a Mich comment elle avait dormi. "Pas tres bien me repondit-elle, a 2h du matin j'ai recu un appel de Lyon me prevenant que ma mere avait fait une chute dans son appartement et s'etait casse le col du femur. (la mere de Mich a 90 ans et est tres independante). Les pompiers ont du demolir la porte d'entree pour entrer et l'emmenr a l'hopital ou elle doit bientot etre operee. Nous avons passe la nuit au telephone avec Lyon."
They decided to cancel their trip to China and to go to back to London then to fly to Lyon as soon as possible. We were all very sad and upset as it had taken them so long to organize their visit to HK but family comes first and particularly when aged parents are involved.
Ils deciderent d'annuler leur voyage en Chine et de rentrer d'abord a LOndres puis de prendre un vol pour Lyon des que possible. Nous etions tous desoles et tristes car il lue ravait fallu longtemps pour organiser leur visite a Hong Kong mas la famille passe d'abord et plus particulierement les parents tres ages.
Mark managed to find them a direct flight to London the following morning. So we still had a day and we showed them the Xmas fair in Victoria Park, which was great fun.
Mark reussit a leur trouver un vol direct pour Londres le lendemain matin. Il nous restait donc une journee et nous leur montrames le marche de Noel au Parc Victoria ce qui les amusa beaucoup.
Then we saw Time Square in Causeway Bay followed by all the witches under the bridge not far from Time Square who can spell a curse on your enemies... or help your kids pass their difficult exams, just for a few Hong Kong Dollars. Then we went to the wet market on the following street and they could see living fish and all sort of vegetables and fruit that don't exist in Europe.
Puis nous allames a Time Square a Causeway Bay suivi de toutes les sorcieres sous le pont voisin de Time Square, qui peuvent jeter un sort a vos ennemis... ou aider votre enfant a passer un examen difficile pour quelques dollars Hong-Kongais. Ensuite nous allames au Marche de rue ou ils purent voir les poissons vivants et toutes sortes de legumes et de fruits qu'on ne trouve pas en Europe.
After that we took the old double deck tramway to Central, we showed them HSBC headquarters and their famous lions 2 of which were painted in rainbow colors to sustain LGBT gender equality requests.
Apres ca nous primes le vieux tramway a imperiale jusqu'a Central, ou nous leur montrames le siege de la banque HSBC avec les fameux lions dont 2 ont ete peints de la couleur arc en ciel pour soutenir les revendications des Gais/Lesbiennes /Transsexuels et je ne sais plus qui....
Then we walked to the pier and took the iconic Star ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui where we had a Dim Sum lunch. Then Mich and I tried our blouses and jackets at our Taylor, and then we showed them a very unique place of Hong Kong Chungking Mansions, but we did not take the elevators to see the cheapest and most dangerous rooms of Hong Kong. There are so many strange stories and books about that very special place. Then we had a quick look at the magnificent Peninsula Hotel.
Puis nous marchames jusqu'au port et primes le charmant et celebre Star Ferry jusqu'a Tsim Sha Tsui ou nous dejeunames de Dim Sum. Ensuite Mich et moi essayames nos blouses et vestes chez notre tailleur, puis nous leur montrames un endroit unique a Hong-Kon Chungking Mansions, mais nous ne montames pas en ascenseur pour voir les chambres les moins cheres et les plus mal famees de Hong Kong. Il ya plethore d'histoires etranges et de livres sur cet endroit mythique. Puis nous entrames brievement voir le superbe Hotel Peninsula.
We took the MTR back to Causeway Bay, then a minibus to our home, we had a quick rest and we went out to dinner invited by a British friend to her club, in the Old China Bank building which is now the China Club so beautiful with its Art Deco Chinese decoration (very 1930 Shanghanese deco like) we ate a delicious Chinese dinner and watched a clever Chinese man dancing and juggling among the tables.
Nous primes le metro MTR jusqu'a Causeway Bay puis un minibus jusqu'a la maison et nous reposames brievement avant d'aller diner invites par une amie Britannique a son club, dans l'ancien siege de la Banque de Chine qui est maitenant le China Club si beau avec sa decoration Art Deco (tres Shanghai des annees 1930). Nous y primes un delicieux diner chinois tres raffine et admirames un impressionnant danseur/jongleur chinois qui se produisait parmi les tables.
The following morning we took Robin and Mish to Airport Express train in Hong Kong station. They had only 2 brief days in HK but they saw a lot of things, people and places.
Le lendemain matin nous emmenames Robin et mich au train pour l'aeroport a la Station Hong-Kong. Ils ne passerent que 2 petits jours a Hong-Kong mais ils virent beaucoup de choses, de lieux et de gens en peu de temps.
Mich's mother operation went well, some medical and house hold help will now have to be organized, which she will have great difficulties accepting.....
L'operation de la mere de Mich s'est bien passee, il faut maintenant organiser son retour chez elle et trouver de l'aide medicale et menagere..... ce qu'elle aura du mal a accepter.
