SATURDAY 15 OCTOBER/ SAMEDI 15 OCTOBRE

Yesterday I went shopping at Jordan in Kowloon, with Chun Wing's parents King and Ping. I was looking for some clothes and did not find any, but we had a great time seeing the Chinese elegant silk clothes and other Chinese items in this beautiful department store.

Hier, je suis allee faire des courses avec King et Ping les parents de Chun Wing. Nous allames a Jordan a Kowloon. Je cherchais des vetements mais finalement ne trouvais rien, ce qui n'empeche que nous nous amusames bine a regarder les elegants vetements en soie de style chinois et autres choses chinoises dans cet elegant grand magasin.

While we were shopping, Chun Wing called his parents and I could also talk to him, which is always a pleasure. He is very tense as his "concours" is only in 2 weeks time. To rise in the hierarchy of POB (Paris Opera Ballet) you have to pass an exam. This year at Chun Wing's level ,(He is at the first level called "Corps de Ballet" and wants to raise to "Coryphee" the second level) there are 12 candidates for only 2 places. I hope for him he will be chosen but who knows in this complicated structure?????

Tandis que nous faisions du "leche-vitrine" (window-shopping = shopping without buying) Chun Wing appela ses parents et j'eus egalement le plaisi de lui parler. Il est tres tendu car son concours approche et aura lieu dans 2 semaines. Pour monter dans la hierarchie du ballet de l'Opera de Paris il faut passer un concours. Cette annee au niveau de Chun Wing, (passage du premier niveau "Corps de Ballet" au second niveau "Coryphees") il y a 2 places pour 12 concurrents. J'espere pour lui qu'il reussira mais qui sait dans cette structure compliquee????

We went to another shop and to a near by street market. It was fun just looking. Then we had some delicious mango puddings and mango ice creams in a tiny restaurant. (King and I LOVE mangoes) After that, I had to go back because it was already 4.45 pm and Mark and I were going to concert in the evening, so I needed to get changed. 

                

Nous tentames notre chance dans un autre magasin et dans un marche de rue voisin. C'etait amusant a regarder. Puis nous allames deguster de delicieux gateaux et glaces a la mangue (King et moi ADORONS la mangue) dans un tout petit restaurant. Enfin je dus rentrer car il etait deja 4h 45 et nous sortions le soir au concert Mark et moi, donc je devais me changer.

The concert was Haydn "London" Symphony and Brahms Piano Concerto No 2 played by Joseph Moog, an excellent young pianist (29 years old).

Nous avons entendu la symphonie "Londres" de Haydn et le 2eme concerto pour piano de Brahms joue par Joseph Moog un excellent jeune pianiste de 29 ans.

Tonight starts Soukot festival, to remember that our ancestors lived during 40 years in the desert, we eat under a hut made of wood and branches, during a week. It also helps us remember that we are happy, with a lot of belonging today, but tomorrow, who knows what might happen to us and make us loose everything et go back under some little hut in hiding???

Ce soir commence la fete de Souccot. Pour nous souvneir que nos ancetres ont erre pendant 40 ans dans le desert, nous mangeons sous une hutte faite de bois et de branchages durant une semaine. Ca permet aussi de se rappeler que nous sommes heureux, avec beaucoup de possessions aujourd'hui, mais que demain qui sait ce qui peut arriver et nous faire tout perdre et nous retrouver a nouveau caches dans une petite hutte.

In Hong Kong the Souccah (the hut) is huge, rather comfortable with air-conditionning... and made of bamboo!!!
