Yesterday was Purim, Mark was in Sydney, but David, Myriam and I went to Kehila Nitzan and David read some of the Meguila. For Purim Jews read a scroll called Meguila that tells the story of Jewish Queen Esther and King Assuerus of Persia. How Esther very scared but obeying her Uncle Mordechai saved the Jews that the Prime Minister Haman wanted to kill.
Hier, c'était Pourim, Mark était à Sydney, mais David , Myriam et moi sommes allé à Kehilat Nitzan où David a lu une partie de la Meguila. Pour Pourim, nous lisons un rouleau appelé Meguila, qui raconte l'histoire de la reine Esther et du roi Assuérus de Perse. Comment Esther terrorisée mais obéissant à son oncle Mardochée, sauva le peuple juif que le Premier Ministre Haman voulait massacrer.
We hear the Meguila, while wearing fancy dresses, we also eat cookies called Haman Taschen (Haman ears) that have a triangular shape, some also drink alcool. As we say : "They wanted to kill us, we survived, let's celebrate!" or "Between 2 pogroms, let's celebrate!"
Nous écoutons la meguila, tout en portant des costumes amusants, nous mangeons aussi des biscuits triangulaires appelés Haman Taschen (Oreilels d'Haman). Comme nous disons : Ils ont voulu nous tuer, nous avons survécu, faisons la fête!" ou encore "Entre 2 pogroms, on fait la fête!".
Almost everybody was wearing funny costumes. Myriam wall pink from head to toes, I was Chinese, David just got hold of one of my Chinese hats and most of the congregants were amazing!
Presque tout le monde était déguisé. Myriam tout en rose, moi, en Chinoise, David avait seulement pris un de mes chapeaux chinois et presque tous les fidèles étaient super bien déguisés.
