I spent Monday and Tuesday with Mark in Sydney. We took a plane together on Sunday evening, and I came back on Wednesday midday while he will be back on Friday evening, just in time for dinner at one of our neighbour's home...
Je viens de passer Lund et mardi à Sydney avec Mark. Nous avons pris l'avion ensemble Dimanche soir, et je suis revenue seule Mercredi après-midi, tandis que lui sera de retour Vendredi soir, juste à temps pour diner chez une de nos voisines.
The 4 of us will have dinner at Debbie's home, ( I met Debbie thanks to Kai-Phong), she lives in a street where I often walk Kai-Phong and as she also walks her 2 Cavalier-Jing-Charles doggies, we often chat. She came for a cup of tea to my home, then to dinner with her husband... whose name I forgot... and tomorrow we will have dinner with Debbie, her husband and daughter. I am terrible with names, if I haven't seen them written I can't remember them.
Nous dinerons tous les 4 chez Debbie, (j'ai rencontré Debbie grace à Kai Phong) elle habite dans une rue voisine où je ballade souvent Kai Phong et comme Debbie promène ses 2 cavaliers King Charles, nous bavardons souvent. Elle est venue prendre le thé, puis son mari et elle sont venus diner (j'ai oublié le prénom de son époux)... et demain nous dinons chez eux avec leur fille. Je suis terrible pour les prénoms, je ne peux les retenir qu'après les avoir vus écrits.
In Australia, people remember your name and always use it when they talk to you. So when I got a name I always write it and all the family's in a notebook. They are so many surnames new to me here : Jarod, Kieran, Penny, Rhona, not to mention some Indian neighbours or artist friends: Dipani, Winnie, Dilushi...
En Australie, les gens se souviennent de votre nom et l'utilisent toujours lorsqu'ils s'adressent à vous. Aussi dès que j'apprends un nom je le note dans mon carnet, avec celui de toute la famille. Il y a de nombreux prénoms inconnus : Jarod, Kieran, Penny, Rhona, sans parler de nos voisins ou d'une amie artiste tous Indiens : Dipani, Winnie, Dilushi...
In Sydney, we had our first meal at home. I went to Woolworth and bought avocadoes (delicious here) and barramundi (a local fish we love) with some shiitake (Australia grown) other mushrooms and potatoes. But only licenced shops can sell alcool... and as we don't drink much, I had no clue where they were... Luckily I found a wine bar near our flat and asked them if they could sell me a bottle of wine. They said they could ... if I drank it in the bar... I was in shock, so I asked them if they knew where I could buy some wine nearby.
A Sydney, nous prîmes notre premier repas à la maison. J'allai chez Woolworth et achetai des avocats (délicieux en Australie) du barramundi (un poisson local que nous adorons) avec des shiitake (australiens aussi) et d'autres champignons ainsi que quelques pommes de terre. Mais seuls les magasin avec autorisation peuvent vendre de l'alcool.. et comme nous buvons très peu, je n'avais pas idée où ils se trouvaient... Heureusement j'aperçus un Bar à vins et leur demandais s'ils pouvaient me vendre une bouteille de vin. Ils pouvaient, à condition que je la boive sur place... j'étais sous le choc! Je leur demandais s'ils savaient où je pouvais acheter du vin dans le voisinage...
They showed me a shop round the corner JUST OPPOSITE our flat's building there was a shop selling alcool (which I had seen but not noticed)... I bought there an Australian white wine (for the fish) but I wanted to celebrate our first meal in our new Sydney home, so I bought a Chandon (Moet & Chandon is a delicious champagne). This Chandon was an Australian sparkling white whine bought by Moet, and we enjoyed it so much that the bottle was half empty at the end of our dinner. We will try the white wine another time!
Ils me montrèrent un magasin juste au coin, EN FACE de l'immeuble de notre appartement. (Je l'avais déjà vu mais pas vraiment remarqué)... J'y achetai un vin blanc australien (pour le poisson) mais je voulais fêter notre premier repas à la maison de Sydney, aussi achetai-je du Chandon (Moet & Chandon est un délicieux champagne) Ce Chandon était un vin blanc pétillant australien propriété de Moet, nous l'appréciâmes tellement que la bouteille fut à moitié vide à la fin du diner. Nous boirons le vin blanc une autre fois.
I forgot to tell you I had put a candle for the ambiance (very romantique) so we had a lovely dinner. As we say : "Between pogrooms, let's celebrate happily and enjoy ourselves!"
J'ai oublié de vous dire que j'avais mis une bougie pour l'ambiance (très romantique) donc nous eûmes un charmant diner. Comme on dit chez nous : "Entre les pogrooms, on fait des fêtes et on s'amuse!
The Australian soccer team lost quickly in the World cup in Russia, and everyone here was very sad.... the Socceroos (soccer is the American name for football and roos is Kangaroos) so the socceroos as they are called here went back home.
Les footballers australiens ont perdu tout de suite au cours de la coupe Mondiale de football en Russie, et ici tout le monde était très triste... les Socceroos (Soccer est le nom américain pour football, roos est pour Kangourous en Anglais Kangaroos) donc les socceroos comme on les appelle ici, sont rentrés à la maison.
David, Myriam and Boaz our Israeli nephew who lives here too in Melbourne) watched a match between France and I forgot which other country, and France won. Myriam was in a state of total euphoria, I had never seen her scream and shout like that in front of a TV screen!
David, Myriam et Boaz, (notre neveu Israelien qui vit à Melbourne aussi) ont regardé un match France je ne sais plus quel pays, et la France a gagné mettant Myriam dans une euphorie très sympathique à voir. Je l'ai rarement entendue hurler ainsi devant un écran de télé!
